Shelter BoXとは、２０００年に発足し、これまでにも数多くの災害地にテント、物資、衣料品など必要なものを頑丈なコンテナに詰めて送る活動をしてきた災害地支援団体です。
ShelterBox was founded in year 2000 and have responded to over 230 disasters and humanitarian crises by delivering essentials to people who needed assistance in rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of a disaster. These items are shipped in containers and includes items such as tents for families, thermal blankets and groundsheets, water storage, and purification equipment, solar lamps, cooking utensils, mosquito nets, and children’s activity pack.

２００４年のインド洋の津波、２０１０年のハイチ地震やシリア危機、昨年のフィリピンにおけるタイフーンハイエン被害の現場などにシェルターボックスを送り続けてきました。
Recent supports included 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, 2010 Haiti earthquake, 2013 Typhoon in the Phillippines Typhoon,, and shelterBox has continued to send boxes to those in need.

 

シェルターボックスは頑丈なプラスチック製の蓋付の箱。箱の重量は55kg。日本円で約8万円が集まると、この箱がひとつ寄付できるのだそうです。

The box is made of a strong plastic material and weighs 55 kg. Once it has collected 80,000 Japanese yen worth, one box is ready to being donated.

 

蓋付きの箱は物入れとして、時には子供のベッドや浴槽として利用できるようになっています。

中には、10人が寝ることの出来るテント、毛布、調理器具、水の濾過装置、さらには子供たちのために色鉛筆や塗り絵などが入っています。

こうした被災地の子供たちへの心のケアも忘れない姿勢や、個人がスポンサーした場合、自分がスポンサーしたボックスがどこに送られたかをボックスの番号でトラッキングできるようにするシステムも高く評価されている慈善団体です。
The box with cover is made as a place container, but also as a bed for smaller child and a bath. The box contains a tent that can sleep up to 10 people, thermal blanket, cooking gadgets, and also items for children such as drawing books. The organization is widely supported and popular because of these special support to children, and if a personal person sponsors a box, that box can be tracked where it went through a “box number”.

 

日本へは 2011年の東日本大震災時に、発生翌日より支援の準備が行われ、3月15日にはすでに仙台市南三陸町へ第一弾のボックスを発送、その後追加で４００個、最終的には1680ものシェルターボックスを届けてくれたそうです。

In 2011, in the aftermath of Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami, by March 15, already 400 boxes were sent to Sendai, and total of 1,680 boxes were sent to Japan to support the Japanese people.

 

　　　

 

今まで各地に送られたボックスは世界75カ国以上の被災地あてに10万個以上。

ShelterBoxでは、この箱をどこにでも発送できる準備を常に整えているとのことです。

ShelterBox has so far sent over 1,000,000 boxes to over 75 countries all over the world.

At ShelterBox, boxes are already set up, ready to be shipped out when ever and where ever there is a need.
